The recall involves some models of Safety 1st and Maxi-Cosi rear-facing car seats.

The parent company of Safety 1st and Maxi-Cosi says the seat anchoring system “fails to conform” to safety standards for some models.

The recall was also reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Officials say a detached child seat may not properly restrain a child, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Parents are advised to only secure their child seat with the vehicle belt restraint system until they receive a free replacement.

According to Consumerreports.org, these are the affected models:

• Safety 1st onBoard 35 SecureTech IC351 rear-facing infant seats manufactured between May 1, 2022 and Feb. 28, 2023

• Maxi-Cosi Coral XP IC313 seats manufactured between May 1, 2020 and Feb. 28, 2023

• Maxi-Cosi Mico XP Max IC337 seats manufactured between Jan. 1, 2021 and Feb. 28, 2023
