Deputies said they arrived at the scene to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.

The other victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to detectives, the victims had been sitting on a bus bench when a black Mercedes-Benz pulled up to them and someone inside opened fire.

The driver then fled the area.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Leronte Smith on Jan. 13 on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response (V.I.P.E.R) detectives arrested Smith on March 3 and transported him to the Broward County Main Jail where he is being held without bond.

A motive for the double shooting has not been released by BSO.
