Woman, 71, killed in hit-and-run crash in Miami

Police say driver struck victim ‘intentionally, maliciously’

MIAMI – City of Miami police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a woman dead Thursday morning as a homicide.

The crash was reported just after 5:45 a.m. in the area of Southwest 27th Avenue and 22nd Terrace.

According to authorities, a woman who was walking in the area was struck by a vehicle that fled right after.

The woman, identified only as a 71-year-old white Hispanic woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said detectives reviewed surveillance video and concluded that the driver struck the victim “intentionally” and “maliciously.”

It’s unclear whether the driver knew the victim.

No other details were immediately released.
