Sheriff: Islamorada felon hits woman’s face with bug spray, gets jailed on gun charge

ISLAMORADA, Fla. – A multi-time felon who lives aboard a boat in the Florida Keys may well rack up another conviction after deputies responded to a domestic disturbance involving bug spray, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

MCSO spokesperson Adam Linhardt said deputies responded to the 73000 block of the Overseas Highway in Islamorada at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

After arriving at the boat, a 54-year-old woman reported that Michael Lawrence Marcie, also 54, sprayed her in the face with bug spray. Linhardt said that evidence at the scene corroborated her story.

But a small gun collection is what earned Marcie, who already has “multiple convictions” in Florida and South Carolina, another felony charge, deputies say.

Linhardt said they found a shotgun, a .22-caliber pistol, two .380-caliber pistols and ammunition on his boat.

Marcie faced charges of felon in possession of a firearm and a misdemeanor battery charge.
