PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. ā Pembroke Park police are investigating after a man was shot Thursday morning.
The shooting occurred around 9 a.m. at an apartment complex off County Line Road near Southwest 52nd Avenue.
āUpon our arrival, we did observe a Black male laying in the hallway on the second floor,ā Pembroke Park Deputy Chief Ra Shana Dabney Donovan said.
Bullet holes could be seen in the building following the shooting.
āI heard six gunshots at first,ā Donna Rodriguez, who called 911, said. āI was sitting outside with my dog and then immediately after maybe a minute, I heard five more.ā
āI came to the front of the house because it was so loud,ā she added. āI heard it coming from the complex around the street, so when I called 911, the police came racing around the corner.ā
Authorities confirmed the man was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood with multiple gunshot wounds.
They say the circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown.
Pembroke Park police say they believe this was an isolated incident. They say the manās gunshot injuries were to the lower half of his body.
āHe has undergone surgery now for his injuries,ā Donovan said.
