Deputies: Florida man breaks into home, kills puppy with machete

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida man is facing animal cruelty charges after deputies said he broke into a home and used a machete to stab and kill a puppy.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies said Alexander Hernandez-Delgado, 25, broke into the home last Thursday, ate some food and threw various items around the house.

According to a report, the homeowner’s puppy was also found dead in its crate.

Deputies found Hernandez-Delgado across the street at a Dollar General store, where they said he admitted to being inside the home.

“I have zero tolerance for abuse of any kind,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister.

Hernandez-Delgado is charged with armed burglary and animal cruelty, and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
