MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A car plowed through the front of a restaurant in southwest Miami-Dade Saturday morning.
Surveillance video captured the terrifying moment that the vehicle crashed through the front of The Spotted Gallo on West Flagler Street.
“We heard a loud bang and then the wall shook, the pictures were coming out of the wall,” said Jasmine Martin, who is the manager next door at Chicken Kitchen.
According to the owner of the restaurant, nobody was injured. An elderly woman was behind the wheel with a passenger in the back seat, according to witnesses.
“They just had some cuts and scratches, but to be expected with an impact like that,” Martin said.
The impact left the restaurant’s front bar mangled and smashed several panes of glass at the front entrance.
Employees and witnesses say the woman driving was conscious and alert after the crash, and believe it was an accident.
The surveillance video shows an employee mopping as the car barrels through the window. Several other employees then emerged, visibly shocked to see a car in the restaurant.
“Disbelief, really, I was just like is there really a car in the building next door here,” Martin said.
Employees boarded up the broken windows Saturday afternoon and hope to make the necessary repairs soon.
