Videos show crooks test security of Pinecrest homeowner with military experience

PINECREST, Fla. – William Alger said his security system recently had a group of crooks looking like fools in Pinecrest.

Alger said watching the surveillance videos of them sometimes makes him laugh.

“They had no idea this house was ready.”

Alger said he has lived near the intersection of Southwest 88 Street and 67 Avenue for about six years and after nine thefts he got serious about his security system.

His arsenal includes surveillance cameras, a solid gate, light beams and detectors.

Alger’s tips: “Definitely have an audible and lock your cars.”

He is concerned that despite these measures the crooks are getting bold.

“I am a former military-- I really hope these young kids don’t get bold enough to check doors, go through the doors. That’s a whole different ball game.”

Alger keeps the Pinecrest Police Department and residents informed when looking out for any criminal activity.

Police officers were asking anyone with information about the thieves on the videos to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
