MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Dashcam video captured a hit and run on the Palmetto Expressway that has left the victim shaken.
That victim lost control of his car and crashed after being hit by a speeding pickup truck.
Video shows the huge pickup truck ramming into the car, and then the driver in the Ford-F250 never stopped.
Yorman Sanchez told Local 10 News the entire ordeal was terrifying.
It happened the night of Oct. 6 as he was heading north on the 826 Expressway.
“He just kept going and he could have left me for dead,” said Sanchez. “Thank god I’m still here.”
It happened just as Sanchez was getting ready to merge onto I-95, his car careening into the guardrail and narrowly missing the bushes.
Troopers said that when they arrived Sanchez’s car was still on the right shoulder, and the other vehicle fled the scene.
“It happened so fast, and luckily it wasn’t as severe as it could have been,” said Sanchez.
The attorney now representing Sanchez told Local 10 News the dashcam footage has really helped with the investigation.
“The fact that Mr. Sanchez had that camera Is huge,” said attorney Adolpus Thompson, Esq. “We were able to see the vehicle, get some information on it and eventually find out who the people were that committed this offense.”
Authorities did locate the hit-and-run driver, but no charges have been announced as of yet.
Sanchez’s vehicle sustained between $6,000 and $9,000 worth of damage, in addition to his medical bills.
He said he’s looking forward to moving forward with his life knowing that the driver in the pickup truck has been found.
