A Monroe County Sheriffā€™s Office news release doesnā€™t specify where the crash happened, though Major was arrested in Monroe County.

Major has been employed by the Monroe County Sheriffā€™s Office since 1997 and worked at the Plantation Key jail, sheriffā€™s office spokesperson Adam Linhardt said.

Heā€™s been suspended amid an internal investigation.

ā€œI was disheartened to hear of this incident,ā€ Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay said in the news release. ā€œWe will investigate it fully and take the appropriate action. As always, I will keep this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency, good and bad.ā€
