HIALEAH GARDENS, Fla. – A Hialeah Gardens police officer faces several charges after police accused him of fraudulently using a fellow officer’s credit card and pawning his department-issued service weapons, including a Glock pistol and an AR-15 rifle.
Police arrested Officer Leonardo Carbo, 30, last Wednesday.

The investigation began on Sept. 30, when Carbo’s colleague noticed numerous unauthorized transactions on his Visa, according to an arrest report.
Carbo is accused of spending more than $1,500 on the officer’s card. Purchases included Puma shoes and Uber rides plus visits to Walmart, gas stations and an Italian restaurant. There were also two transactions at a Miami pawn shop.
The officer told detectives he left his credit card at a Hialeah Gardens business on Sept. 22 and, as he was about to board a flight to New York, called Carbo to ask him to stop by the business and pick it up for him since he was leaving town, according to the arrest report.
Detectives wrote that Carbo sent his colleague a picture confirming he had the card.
After visiting the pawn shop, police said they discovered that Carbo had pawned his department-issued Glock Model 22 pistol and Aramlite AR-15 rifle.
Hialeah Gardens police said they fired Carbo immediately after investigators found probable cause for his arrest.
“We acted swiftly after learning of his actions and proceeded with a criminal and internal affairs investigation, leading to his termination and arrest,” HGPD Lt. Eddy Medina said. “We were disappointed (with) his actions since they do not align with the values or mission of our agency.”
