Investigators said the driver was identified as 33-year-old Johnnie Young.

According to deputies, Young was driving a 2010 Dodge Charger sedan heading eastbound on West McNab Road, approaching the intersection of South Dixie Highway, when the vehicle he was in proceeded straight through the intersection and off the roadway.

Authorities said the vehicle then struck a Florida East Coast Railway system and went airborne.

The vehicle cleared both sets of train tracks, landed on the east side of the tracks and began to rotate and tumble before striking a tree and coming to a final rest, officials said.

Young was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

Detectives say excessive speed is considered a contributing factor to the crash.
