MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man and a woman are facing charges Monday in Miami-Dade County after police officers accused them of stealing three pairs of Versace sunglasses by removing security tags.

Axel Vasquezaros and Nicole Penazuniga are accused of shoplifting the $1,035 designer goods on Sunday at the Sunglass Hut store in Dolphin Mall, at 11401 NW 12 St., in Sweetwater.

Vasquezaros, 22, was armed with a knife and had a pair of black Husky pliers, according to his arrest form. Penazuniga, 21, had a large round magnet in her purse, according to her arrest form.

Vasquezaros and Penazuniga are each facing charges of first-degree grand theft and attempting to use an anti-theft shopping device. Penazuniga was released on a $12,500 bond on Monday, court records show.

Vasquezaros was already on a felony bond for possession of a controlled substance. He remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday afternoon.
