MIAMI – Mayami, a Tulum-inspired Wynwood hot spot with a 300-seat indoor-outdoor restaurant and lounge, joined Miami Spice 2022 with a fun dinner menu.
Philippe Kalifa opened the 10,000-square-foot evening-to-nightlife haven on November 2020 inspired by the Mayan Revival architectural style of the 1920s and ‘30s.
“We have graffiti of the Mayan civilization,” Kalifa said adding that he wants his guests “to have a full experience” with a “great” dinner and a show while feeling both “the outdoor vibe and the more loungy vibe inside.”
Executive Chef Juan Carlos Flores’s Miami Spice menu stays loyal to his fusion of Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine. It has two appetizer options: An Elote with cotija, garlic aioli, and chile piquin and The Crispy Tuna with sesame, chives, and serrano.
The three entree options are The Grouper A La Verazcruzana, a pan-seared seabass; The Fillete Negro, black lime grasshoppers beef jus with pomme puree, and the Fideo Seco, a Mexican-style pasta with sour cream, queso fresco, and Maitake mushrooms.
“I like to use mushrooms for this dish because it gives it another element of earthiness,” Flores said.
The dessert is the Xocolate mouse layered chocolate cake.
The Mexicantina is offering the $45 pre-set Spice menu from 5 to 11 p.m., every day except for Friday and Saturday, through the month of September. Kalifa wants guests to stay after dinner.
“We offer a lot of shows with fire performers, acrobats, a lot of different things,” Kalifa said.
As midnight approaches, dancers, performers, and music take over until 3 a.m. from Monday to Sunday at 127 NW 23 St. Reservations are available on OpenTable. The specialty cocktails are not included, but the Happy Hour deals are from Monday to Friday. For more information, visit the venue’s page.
