MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The mother of a 25-year-old woman who was fatally shot in the head earlier this week in northwest Miami-Dade spoke to Local 10 News Thursday, saying “she didn’t deserve to die like she died.”
Surrounded by loved ones and clutching her daughter’s photo, the mother of Wendy Daniel talked about her beloved daughter.
“I just want everybody to know that my baby was no throw away. She was well taken care of,” Tiffany Williams said. “She had respect. She loved everybody. She had people’s respect.”
Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 captured the Tuesday morning murder in a northwest Miami-Dade alleyway.
In the video, you can see Daniel, who was partially naked, falling out of the front passenger side door of a car.
Miami-Dade police say 43-year-old Ron Donaldson is the man who is then seen getting out of the same door, naked.
Detectives said he grabbed her and shot her in the head before driving away.
It took police less than 24 hours to track him down to his Miami Beach apartment. He was taken into custody and arrested on a murder charge.
A law enforcement source told Local 10 that Donaldson is a suspect in at least five rapes that were reported in Miami-Dade County.
Donaldson was an insurance agent and unit supervisor with Bankers Life in North Miami.
“We are saddened to learn of this tragedy, and our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim,” Bankers Life spokesperson Valerie Dolenga said. “The individual is no longer employed with the company. Since this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot comment further at this time.”
Donaldson has no previous criminal history.
He is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
“I hope the man that killed her dies and goes to hell!” Williams said. “And I just want them to know in his family because he didn’t have to do my daughter or no other girl like he has done in the past. And I hope he gets consecutive life sentences and I hope he dies! I hope somebody kills him!”
While Donaldson has been arrested, Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information as to what may have led up to Daniel’s death.
