2 men arrested following home explosion

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Missouri. – Two men are facing charges in connection with a home explosion that killed four people last week in Missouri.

Diamonte Cooks, his mother and two younger brothers survived Friday’s explosion. But his other brother and three friends were killed in the blast.

Prosecutors say several people were in the garage, building manufactured explosive devices at the time.

They were apparently making the devices for two other people, who have since been arrested.

“I was asleep. I heard a big boom. My bed flew in the air, and I hit my head on the ceiling. Everything was falling down,” Cooks told ABC affiliate KAKE.

Despite authorities saying the explosion was caused by people building explosive devices in the garage, Cooks and other family members and friends told KAKE they believed the explosion was caused by a gas leak.

The suspects are being held on a $350,000 cash-only bond.
