Security guard charged in deadly shooting at Hollywood Publix

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The security guard who shot a man in a Publix supermarket in Hollywood’s Young Circle has been charged with manslaughter.

An arrest warrant was issued for Andre Constantine Grey, 44, who turned himself in to police Saturday.

Police responded to the Publix at 1740 Polk St., just off of Hollywood’s Young Circle, on Friday, June 10, at 10:04 p.m. after a 911 call about a security guard shooting a person in the store.

According to an initial investigation, the victim was known to the security guard. Detectives said that the two were involved in a physical altercation just prior to the shooting.

The man who was shot was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Grey did cooperate at the scene with police.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
