POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a freight train Wednesday morning in Pompano Beach.
The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. near the 100 block of South Dixie Highway.
According to BSO spokeswoman Miranda Grossman, deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue officials responded to the scene.
She said one adult was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crime scene and homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Grossman said Atlantic Boulevard at Dixie Highway was closed to traffic during the investigation, but all lanes have since reopened.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
