MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The mother of a 17-year-old boy who was gunned down earlier this week in a drive-by shooting spoke to Local 10 News Friday as police are still searching for the shooter.
“I don’t who did it, I don’t know why it was done. All I know, it’s senseless and stupid,” Arianna McNear said. “It crushed many people and I loved Cairi.”
Police said Cairi was shot near an apartment building Wednesday morning in the area of Northwest 71st Street and 15th Avenue.
“I raised 11 children. Cairi was the seventh child,” McNear said.
Police said the shooting happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday. According to authorities, a shooter rolled by on a motorcycle and shot the teen several times.
By the time officers got there, they found Cairi dead on the ground.
“I won’t know what it was until God is ready to reveal it to me and why,” McNear said. “This morning, I kept calling his older brother Charles, Cairi. I called him Cairi like four or five times. I had to keep catching myself to realize that’s not Cairi in the room. So, I’m going to miss Cairi deeply.”
Anyone with further information about the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
