Miami-Dade mother speaks out after 17-year-old killed in drive-by shooting

ā€˜All I know, itā€™s senseless and stupid,ā€™ Arianna McNear says

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ The mother of a 17-year-old boy who was gunned down earlier this week in a drive-by shooting spoke to Local 10 News Friday as police are still searching for the shooter.

ā€œI donā€™t who did it, I donā€™t know why it was done. All I know, itā€™s senseless and stupid,ā€ Arianna McNear said. ā€œIt crushed many people and I loved Cairi.ā€

Police said Cairi was shot near an apartment building Wednesday morning in the area of Northwest 71st Street and 15th Avenue.

ā€œI raised 11 children. Cairi was the seventh child,ā€ McNear said.

Police said the shooting happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday. According to authorities, a shooter rolled by on a motorcycle and shot the teen several times.

By the time officers got there, they found Cairi dead on the ground.

ā€œI wonā€™t know what it was until God is ready to reveal it to me and why,ā€ McNear said. ā€œThis morning, I kept calling his older brother Charles, Cairi. I called him Cairi like four or five times. I had to keep catching myself to realize thatā€™s not Cairi in the room. So, Iā€™m going to miss Cairi deeply.ā€

Anyone with further information about the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
