17-year-old wanted for attempted murder in South Miami

SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. – South Miami police have obtained an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old boy who they said tried to kill someone last month.

The suspect was identified by police as Virgel James.

According to authorities, James was involved in a shooting around 11 p.m. April 17 in the area of Southwest 59th Place and 68th Street.

Police said the victim was in the area when James pulled out a gun from his waistband and shot him multiple times.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, survived.

James is considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.

A possible motive for the shooting has not been released by police.
