11 Cuban migrants make landfall in Key West following journey on wooden fishing boat

KEY WEST, Fla. – A group of Cuban migrants made landfall in the Florida Keys on Sunday.

According to U.S. Border Patrol, 11 people arrived on a boat near Smathers Beach in Key West.

They were medically screened and taken into custody, authorities said.

The group arrived on what Border Patrol described as a wooden fishing vessel.
