PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Somerset Academy in Pembroke Pines, led by Adriana Jimenez, brought home the gold in this weekend’s WGI World championships in Dayton, Ohio.
The high school winter guard team beat out 96 Scholastic A teams from across the nation with their routine named “Winter.”
One of Florida International University’s independent teams, FIU Gold, also earned a world championship title in Independent A class with their show “Sunday Service” under Enrique Perez and Liza Koontz.
The last time WGI championships were held was in 2019.
