FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Florida Highway Patrol trooper and another driver were injured Thursday morning in a crash in Fort Lauderdale.
The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near State Road 84.
“In that area, there is a lot of construction going on, so it’s unknown what areas were shut down,” FHP Lt. Indiana Miranda said.
Local 10 News was told that the trooper and the driver of a Tesla SUV were both taken to a hospital, but are expected to be OK.
They both were wearing seat belts, authorities said.
Troopers said three lanes of traffic were closed for hours during the investigation, leading to major backups in the area. All lanes reopened around 11:30 a.m.
“The investigation is ongoing. We don’t know if the trooper or Tesla (driver) is a fault,” Miranda said.
