MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The 26-year-old man who police say is responsible for a shooting on a recent New Year’s Eve outside of a restaurant in Miami Beach appeared in court Thursday.
A judge granted no bond to Keshawn McLean after he was arrested on charges of attempted pre-meditated murder and attempted felony murder.
The shooting happened on Jan. 31, 2020, in front of The Licking restaurant on Washington Avenue.
According to an arrest warrant for McLean, Miami Beach Police received multiple telephone calls around 8:40 p.m. of a shooting in progress at 754 Washington Ave.
Police responded and located three victims with gunshot wounds.
On Feb. 1, 2021, detectives identified McLean as one of the men involved in the shootout.
Miami Beach police said McLean had been kicked out of the restaurant after getting into an altercation with another man and was turned away by a security guard when he tried to re-enter.
Police said McLean turned around and began to argue with a group of men riding in a Lamborghini SUV that was parked in front of the restaurant and then started screaming, “Draco, Draco, Draco, where’s the Draco?...Give me the Draco.”
The security guard told police that he knew a Draco was an AK-47 and heard four to five gunshots ring out moments later.
Witnesses said they heard an argument before the panic ensued. A witness’ video shows a man firing a long gun.
On June 18, 2021, Jaylen White, 22, was arrested after he was accused of handing McLean the AK-47 that was allegedly used in the shooting.
Two men were shot during the incident and were hospitalized; a woman was grazed by a bullet.
The judge on Thursday also ordered McLean to have no contact with the victims.
