Security guard shot, 2 vehicles stolen during car dealership burglary in Opa-locka

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – Surveillance video shows three people breaking into a car dealership in Opa-locka before they shot a security guard.

The incident occurred early Thursday morning at the CarYou Miami dealership, located at 2695 NW 141st St.

Employees told Local 10 News the crooks used a rock to bust through the front door.

The mask-wearing trio didn’t mask their intentions though -- they wanted car keys.

The group busted through two more doors once they were in -- one of them with a gun in hand.

Eventually, they found what they were looking for.

The trio headed back out to the lot and started up a 2010 Infiniti G37 and a 2017 Hyundai Sonata.

The two cars were seen lined up outside the closed gate.

At some point, the security guard spotted them and shots were fired near the back area of the building.

The trio ran back, got behind the wheel of their stolen rides and plowed through the gate.

Police showed up and the security guard was taken to a hospital.

A man who says he owns the property, and who wanted to be identified only as Frank, says this is a shocking situation.

“It’s bad, you know. People don’t work and they want to take stuff from other people,” he said.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
