PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A 61-year-old man from Pembroke Pines was arrested Tuesday on child pornography charges, authorities confirmed.
According to police, they received a complaint about Michael Allenick, which led them to obtain a search warrant.
Detectives with the police department’s Special Victims Unit took Allenick into custody on Tuesday.
Police said he was interviewed before being arrested and taken to the Broward County Jail.
Authorities have not released details about what was found during their search or what Allenick said to detectives during the interview, however, in court Wednesday it was learned that the allegations stem from December 2020 and this was a long-term investigation regarding uploading files, several of which were allegedly found in his email.
Allenick worked as an airport screener at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The Transportation Security Administration issued a statement, saying: “The TSA does not tolerate unethical, immoral or illegal conduct. The individual charged with this crime is no longer performing any duties with our agency and we pledge to fully cooperate with the ongoing law enforcement investigation into this matter.”
On Wednesday, Allenick was ordered held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. If he posts bail, he must be fitted with a GPS ankle monitor.
The judge also ordered that he not have any contact with minors and he is not permitted to have access to any devices with internet capabilities.
Anyone with further information about Allenick and the accusations against him is asked to contact lead Detective Jacob Childress with the Special Victims Unit at jchildress@ppines.com or at his direct office line, 954-743-1637.
