Devastated family increases reward after woman is murdered while carrying 3-year-old daughter

DORAL – On May 3, Le’Shonte Jones was fatally shot while her three-year-old daughter stood by her side.

According to investigators, the 24-year-old Miami International Airport TSA worker had just gotten home from work when she was gunned down in front of her daughter. Jones was pronounced dead on scene.

On Friday, her devastated family made a public plea demanding answers in front of Miami-Dade Police headquarters — even raising the reward to $10,000.

“My baby had a future somebody took from her. I did the best with my children as a single mom, and I did a wonderful job. Please, y’all, say something,” said her distraught mother Darlene Dukes. “What man in his right mind would chase a woman with a baby to murder her?”

Jones’ daughter, who was grazed by a bullet and thankfully survived, witnessed the heinous crime. Thankfully, she is now OK.

“Her daughter witnessed this heinous crime,” said Lieutenant Vernon Williams of the MDPD Homicide Bureau.

“She’s the hype man, that’s why they call her DJ A1,” added her mother. She was a mother, a friend, and known as the life of the party.

Miami-Dade Police released a picture of the suspect.

Now, the family that has been torn apart by this tragedy is begging the community help them solve this case.

“If you have a clue if you think that’s him, please do the right thing,” begs her mother.

According to police, the car the suspect took off in is a gray Nissan sedan. Detectives say they have received several tips, but they need help narrowing down their scope. Overall the family wants justice for the three-year-old girl who watched her mother die.

If you know anything, please call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
