WESTCHESTER, Fla. – Surveillance video shows two thieves breaking into two of Jorge Zubigaray’s Mercedes Benz cars in Westchester. They rammed the cars into his gate and drove away, but he was able to outsmart them later.
The noise alerted Zubigaray’s family, but when he walked out to investigate they were already gone. Zubigaray said he had left the keys inside the cars. The thieves disabled the factory GPS system, but they didn’t know that he had a secondary tracking system.
“I was able to disable the cars while they were driving,” Zubigaray said.
The drivers were forced to abandon the cars. Zubigaray tracked one near Oakland Park Boulevard and Interstate 95 and the other near I-95 and State Road 112. He wants Miami-Dade police officers to catch the thieves.
Between the two iron gates and the cars, Zubigaray said they caused about $35,000 in damage. He is asking anyone with information about the thieves to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
