A local high school is earning top marks in a respected nationwide survey

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – U.S. News & World Report is out with its annual rankings of best high schools.

The School for Advanced Studies (SAS) is ranked #5 on the list of 17,857 high schools nationwide. SAS, which has five campuses in Miami-Dade County, is recognized for giving students the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework. 96% of students enrolled in the school take the AP classes, that earn them college credits. The report says the total minority enrollment at SAS is 87%, and 43% of students are economically disadvantaged.

Other local high schools ranking high on the nationwide list: the Archimedean Upper Conservatory Charter School in Miami at #63, the Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH) at #65 and iPrep Academy at #72.

Pompano Beach High is the top ranked Broward school coming in at #240 nationally.
