HOMESTEAD, Fla. – The sky was the limit for a man who wanted to celebrate his 90th birthday in a thrilling and exhilarating way.
You wouldn’t know it by looking at him, but Jack Kleinert turned 90 years old on March 14th.
“I wanted a life affirming event and what’s better than a death-defying event,” said Jack Kleinert.
The Navy veteran and former pilot is as positive a person as you’ll ever meet and he knew exactly what he wanted to do to celebrate.
“When this 90th birthday came, I thought of it not as the end of my life but maybe as a new chapter, and I couldn’t think of a better thing to do to replicate my old flying, only this time jump out of an airplane,” he explained.
Jack made his way down to Skydive Miami in Homestead on Monday, got suited up, and after a quick lesson, they took to the sky.
He tells Local 10 News he was definitely nervous in the moments leading up to the jump, but afterwards it was pure bliss.
His landing was picture perfect, too.
“That was incredible!” he said moments after landing. “It was just an out of body experience.”
Jack said he definitely would like to skydive again, but figures he’ll wait for his 91st birthday before jumping out of a plane again.
