State health officials confirmed 8,720 additional cases of COVID-19 on Monday and another 153 resident deaths as a result of the novel coronavirus.
Florida has now verified 1,658,169 COVID-19 cases since the outbreak began and 25,446 resident deaths, according to the department of health.

Another 403 non-residents have died within the state, and there have been at least 70,346 resident hospitalizations attributed to the novel coronavirus in Florida since the start of the outbreak.
Deaths verified in the past day include 17 in Miami-Dade County, 11 in Broward County and 25 in Palm Beach County.

At least 1,407,411 vaccines have been administered in Florida, with 157,972 people in the state getting both shots that are needed. Miami-Dade has had 156,094 vaccinations, Broward has had 126,337 and Monroe 5,670, according to the latest numbers posted by the state.
The statewide positivity rate on yesterday’s testing was 9.56%.
