Florida health officials confirmed 12,119 additional cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, plus another 205 resident deaths as a result of the novel coronavirus.
The state has now verified 1,560,186 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began and 24,004 resident deaths, according to the department of health.

Another 376 non-residents have died within the state, and there have been at least 67,790 resident hospitalizations attributed to the novel coronavirus in Florida since the start of the outbreak.
The White House Coronavirus Task Force said in its latest report that Florida “is in full COVID-19 resurgence, which will drive significant fatalities for many weeks and stress the staffing of the hospital system.”
Deaths verified in the past day include 33 in Miami-Dade County, two in Broward County and 15 in Palm Beach County.

At least 937,640 vaccines have been administered in the state, with 87,074 people getting both shots that are needed. Miami-Dade has had 109,600 vaccinations, Broward has had 85,294 and Monroe 3,705, according to the latest numbers available Saturday.
The statewide positivity rate on yesterday’s testing was 8.55%.
