Powerball jackpot rolls over to $550 million

Next drawing is Jan. 13

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. ā€“ The Powerball jackpot rolled over to $550 million Saturday night when there was no grand prize winner. Players now get another chance to get that prize worth half of a $1 billion, which is the highest since March of 2019. If someone wins, it will be the 10th largest prize in the gameā€™s history.

Powerball numbers will be drawn Jan. 13.

Odds of winning? 1 in 292 million. According to lottery officials, however, about about one in every 25 plays will win something, even if it is $4.

Saturday night's jackpot was worth $470 million. Check the numbers. (WPLG)

The last big Powerball jackpot was in March of 2019 when $768.4 million was won in Wisconsin.

And if you donā€™t win the Powerball, you have another chance for a jumbo jackpot in a few days. No one picked all of Friday nightā€™s winning numbers, so that jackpot has reached $600 million, for only the fourth time in that gameā€™s history.

The jackpot was last won on Sept. 15. That drawing is Tuesday night.

Powerball was introduced in January of 2009 with an estimated $105 million jackpot, while Mega Millions had its first drawing on May 17, 2013, with the win estimated at $190 million.
