1 killed, 2 injured in shooting in Miami-Dade’s Gladeview neighborhood

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and two others injured Friday morning in the Gladeview area.

According to Detective Alvaro Zabaleta, officers responded to the area of Northwest 18th Avenue and 66th Street, outside of a 24-hour convenience store, in reference to a ShotSpotter alert shortly after midnight.

When officers arrived, they found two men at the scene with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Zabaleta said a third victim involved in the incident arrived at North Shore Medical Center and was transferred to JMH in critical condition.

The condition of the second surviving victim was not released.

One man, Frank Gaines, came to the scene to mourn the loss of his best friend.

“All he did was work and provide for his family,” Gaines said.

Gaines would not name his friend out of respect for the family and not knowing if they knew what happened.

He said he believes his friend was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time.

“We have to put an end to this, it’s too much,” he said.

Anyone with further information about the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
