MIAMI – It’s a happy new year indeed for Rodrigo Quesada. The 67-year-old Miami man won a $1 million prize from the $5,000,000 Cashword scratch-off game, Florida Lottery officials announced.
Quesada decided to take his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $780,000.

Quesada purchased his winning ticket from the Stop N Shop at 9610 Fountainebleau Boulevard in Miami. The retailer gets a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the lucky scratcher.
The $20 game launched in May and features eight top prizes of $5 million and 24 prizes of $1 million, lottery officials say.
According to Florida Lottery, scratch-offs make up about 75% of their ticket sales and generated more than $1 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund in fiscal year 2019-20.
