Broward County swears in new Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Joe Scott was sworn in Tuesday morning as the next Broward Supervisor of Elections at an outdoor, socially distanced ceremony in Lauderhill.

“My background is in technology and working with technology, and I think there’s a huge opportunity right now for us to make our…to really modernize our supervisor of elections office,” Scott said.

Scott said he plans to build on the work of his appointed predecessor, Peter Antonacci, who received bipartisan accolades on his handling of the 2020 elections. He also wants to improve technology and communication with the public.

On President Donald Trump’s attacks on other state’s elections systems, Scott said it was “unfortunate.”

“A lot of times when candidates are upset they lost an election they lash out at the elections system. They lash out at elections officials. But our processes are pretty well established, and everything we do is very transparent,” Scott said. “People can be rest assured that folks are working to just get it right, and that’s what we want to do. That’s the goal.”
