MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The body that was found along the shoreline of Miami Beach on Wednesday morning was that of Broselinda Hernández Boudet, a famed Cuban actress, police confirmed.
Police say her body was discovered by someone walking by the area near 79th Street around 6:30 a.m.
It wasn’t until Wednesday evening when police identified her as the 56-year-old actress.
Hernández was born in Havana and had an illustrious career on stage and in radio, television, and films.
She moved to Miami five years ago, and family members say she went out to buy cigarettes Tuesday night and never returned home.
Police believe Hernández drowned, and at this point, they do not suspect foul play, but the medical examiner’s office had not yet determined the cause of death.
She rose to fame with Cuban soap operas in the 1990s such as “When Water Returns to Land” and “Women of Honor.” In 2010, she played the mother of Jose Martí in a biopic of the Cuban independence hero.
