TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis held a post-Election Day news conference Wednesday afternoon in Tallahassee at which time he praised the state’s handling of its 11 million ballots.
DeSantis said it takes great effort to get the results that Florida had and that other states are now looking at Florida as an example of “the state that did it right.”

“Of course we had to take action to get to this point,” the governor said.
DeSantis said improving the election administration in Florida was his inaugural pledge, which led to the suspension and removal of the elections supervisor in Palm Beach County. DeSantis also accepted the resignation of former Broward County Supervisor of Elections Dr. Brenda Snipes.
DeSantis said he was pleased with the outcome of Election Day in both counties and commended the current elections supervisors there for their work.
The governor also thanked the scores of poll workers across the state.
While DeSantis was pleased with the ultimate results of the presidential race in Florida, saying President Donald Trump won a “significant victory” in the Sunshine State, he criticized how late in the night it took for the race in Florida to be called.
DeSantis also congratulated Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and fellow Republican Maria Elvira Salazar for their congressional race victories.
The governor said he was able to help both, primarily through fundraising, and said he believes both will do a “great job in the Congress.”
