PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Florida reported 3,190 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday along with 98 more deaths. The positivity rate from yesterday’s tests was 4.42%, lower than the 5.53% from the day prior.
Meanwhile, Johns Hopkins University of Medicine’s Coronavirus Resource Center lists Miami-Dade second in its Top 50 Confirmed Cases list by County in the United States. Miami-Dade at 163,375 confirmed cases as of Sept. 11 is second just under Los Angeles with 252,066 cases. Broward County is seventh in the country with 74,084 confirmed cases tabulated by the Resource Center as of Sept. 11. In its Top 20 counties ranked in deaths from COVID-19, Miami-Dade was eighth, while Broward was No. 19.

Those numbers come as Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday announced that Miami-Dade and Broward counties can begin Phase 2 of reopening, as Palm Beach County did this week.
Florida is now up to 661,571 confirmed cases, 12,600 resident deaths and 41,215 hospitalizations attributed to the novel coronavirus since the start of the outbreak, according to the state health department’s dashboard.
Another 156 nonresidents have died from COVID-19 in the state.
The new deaths reported over the past 24 hours include 46 in Miami-Dade County, 3 in Broward and 4 in Palm Beach County.
