WESTON, Fla. – A canal and firefighters stood between the raging flames of a small brush fire and homes in Weston on Thursday. But the smoke and debris prompted authorities to ask residents to avoid going outside.
“Our concern is the northwesterly winds moving towards the community to the east,” said Scott Peterich, a Florida Forest Service local wildfire mitigation specialist.
