OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – The driver of a sports utility vehicle crashed into a house at the end of a cul-de-sac Monday afternoon in Oakland Park.
Firefighters responded to the scene of the crash near the intersection of Northwest 43rd Street and 17th Avenue. A nearby Ring security camera captured the collision.
Resident Dulce Avila said she was driving toward that intersection when she saw the SUV cross in front of her.
“He missed me by this much,” she recalled.
Other neighbors who live in the Cul-de-sac said they saw the vehicle drive past them.
“Hit the stop sign and just kept right on going down the street,” said Arlene Staresina.
Witnesses said they saw the female driver run in a panic, before returning to the scene.
No one was inside the home at the time of the crash. The son of the homeowners said his family of four will now have to spend the night with relatives, and won’t be able to return until structural repairs are made on the home.
Late Monday, neighbors helped the homeowners board up the gaping hole in the front of the house.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating.
No word whether the driver will face charges.
