"He's full of energy, quite rambunctious -- keeping us all on our toes, and we wouldn't have it any other way," said Dr. Jason Chatfield, vice president of zoological operations for Jungle Island. "Capuchin monkeys are highly intelligent and inquisitive creatures. We're certain he'll fit right in at Jungle Island and will delight countless families and park visitors."
The monkey is currently under 24-hour care at the park, and visitors who wish to get an up close encounter with the park's newest addition can book a behind-the-scenes VIP tour.
The park still hasn't named the capuchin, and is asking the public to vote on their favorite name for the monkey on Jungle Island's Facebook page.
Simply find the baby capuchin monkey photo, tag a friend and suggest a name underneath.
The winner will be announced later in the month and will get to meet the monkey, enjoy a free banana pie and also receive a pair of 2016 Jungle Passes, which includes unlimited park admission through the end of this year, free private beach access and a one-day pass on the exhilarating Rainforest Riptide.
Capuchin monkeys are native to Central and South America and can live up to 50 years.
The monkeys are omnivores and their diet consists mostly of fruit, leaves, seeds, berries, insects, birds, small mammals and eggs.
