Julian Bryant dies after drive-by shooting in Miami

4 others injured in Sunday night shooting

MIAMI – One of five victims in Sunday night's drive-by shooting in Miami has died.

Julian Bryant, 17, was pronounced dead at Jackson Memorial Hospital, police said Thursday.

Bryant and four others were injured in a drive-by shooting on Northwest Second Avenue.

Police said a group of people were standing outside a home when a black sport utility vehicle drove by and someone inside began shooting at the crowd.

Family members said doctors believed Bryant, who was shot in the arm and leg, was recovering.

"They said he was recovering," sister Ortisha Holt told Local 10 News. "But out of nowhere he went into a coma."

Family members said Bryant had just moved to the area and was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The other victims -- Rodney Keaton, Derrick Collie, Deandre Benjamin and Marvin Lewis King -- were last listed in critical but stable condition.

Police are still searching for the shooter.

"People know who did it but they're not talking," Holt said. "They're talking about retaliating. There's no need to retaliate. You ain't going to do nothing but get yourself in trouble. Just speak up."
