SUNRISE, Fla. – The Grateful Threads clothing line, featuring eco-friendly clothing made from organic fabric and styled for a casual lifestyle, is being produced in Sunrise and marketed over the web.
Leanna Echeverri is the driving force behind the new business and is busy launching a new marketing campaign with a photo shoot, which is vital to get her business off the ground.

"All you really have to go by is a photo, not like when you go to a store and you can touch something," said Echeverri.
Echeverri uses an organic hemp-cotton blend fabric for her tops, pants and skirts.
"With these clothes, they wear in as you wash them. It's because of the nature of the fiber," Echeverri said as models displayed her fashions. "So you get a quality garment that's going to last you a much longer time."
All the work for Grateful Threads is done in Echeverri's Sunrise home. She sews and designs the outfits, while her marketing director, Leslie, handles the website and processes orders.
Echeverri's biggest seller is a white Tara dress priced at $140.
"I get to create a piece and I offer it in different sizes and colors and the customer can order the size and color they want," Echeverri said while sewing.
So far, Echeverri has sold about 200 garments on the web, and hopes to expand into local boutiques. She's encouraged after leaving her full-time job as an optician.
"I decided to take the leap of faith a year ago, and I'm glad that I did," she said.
