Phone lines at the school were down after the fire, but school officials notified parents about the incident on the school's website:
"Good Morning Parents: There was a small fire in our school's main office today. There is minimal impact to the operation of the school. However, our phone lines are currently not working. School will open with regular school hours including before and after school care. Breakfast and lunch will be served. See you all soon."
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said this appeared to be an unintentional electrical fire.
