Disney shares details about new attractions at Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Disney theme park fans will have some new attractions to look forward to, as Disney releases details about updates at two of its theme parks in Orlando.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, during The Future of World-Building at Disney panel at SXSW, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro took to the stage alongside Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman to talk about what will be new at the theme parks.

A new adventure will come to Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as the movie The Mandalorian and Grogu makes its debut in theaters on Memorial Day Weekend 2026.

Monster’s Inc. fans will soon be able to experience a new “vertical lift” coaster with their favorite scare crew, James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski. According to Disney Parks, it will be the first-ever vertical lift that will hoist riders in the air like never before as they zoom into the door vault.

The new attraction will take the place of Muppet Vision 3D and PizzaRizzo which is slated to close in June 2025.

The Magic Kingdom Park will also see an expansion in Frontierland with Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater from the Pixar movie “Cars.”

According to the Disney Parks Blog, the Cars crew leaves Radiator Springs behind and heads off into the frontier to put their wheels to the test. Imagineers worked with a motocross company to build a real dirt track to race around on and took that data back to begin work on creating how the ride vehicles will eventually move and race.
