CLEARWATER, Fla. – A man and his “best friend” are safe after the U.S. Coast Guard pulled them from the water off of Sanibel Island on Thursday afternoon.
According to the USCG Southeast, the USCG Air Station saved the man and his dog, who were both wearing life vests, after their 36 ft. sailboat started to take on water.

The two were about 25 miles off Sanibel Island at the time.
According to the Coast Guard, after being pulled from the water, they were taken to the Southwest Florida International airport where they were checked out by medics.
