AAA announced in a press release Monday that Florida gas prices have increased shortly after dropping to multi-month lows.
According to the press release, the state average rose 15 cents last week, then declined two cents over the weekend. Sunday’s state average was $3.35 per gallon, which is 10 cents more than a week ago, it states. This price is still 10 cents less than the national average, which was $3.45 as of Sunday, according to the press release.

The jump in price ended a 26-day streak of declines, which delivered a 33-cent discount, according to the press release. The state average eventually dropped to $3.23 on Tuesday, which was the lowest daily average price since mid-February, it states.
“Oil and gasoline futures prices rose the past two consecutive weeks, which raised the cost of producing gasoline,” said Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA.
Jenkins further elaborated on fuel demand.
“Futures prices reportedly increased on data that fuel demand is outpacing fuel inventories. Price fluctuations like this (are) very common during the summer travel season,” he said.
