Famed snake hunter in Everglades bags Python with whole lot of eggs

THE EVERGLADES, Fla. – A famed python hunter in the Everglades got quite the surprise after making her latest capture.

Donna Kalil bagged a more than 10-foot-long female Burmese Python last week.

When Kalil harvested the 36-pound snake, she found that it was carrying 25 eggs.

“Imagine how many native animals she had to eat to get to that size, and how many more animals her babies would have eaten had they reached her size!” Kalil wrote.

Scientists say Burmese Pythons breed in the early spring with females laying an average of 12 to 36 eggs.

Moms keep their eggs close until they hatch to raise the temperature around them by several degrees.

Kalil is part of an all-female hunting team that call themselves the “Everglades Avengers”.

The experienced python hunter is also known for her culinary research when it comes to pythons.

She believes they are a good source of protein.

When asked if the eggs are safe to eat, Kalil said “I like them hard-boiled with siracha sauce and I use them in my chocolate chip cookie recipe.”
