VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 21-year-old Deltona woman was arrested on Thursday and is charged with allegedly stealing nearly $200,000 from her grandfather since late 2019.

Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies started an investigation in Dec. 2021, when the victim noticed money missing from his account. The investigation revealed that Jena Quiles allegedly withdrew $190,291 from the 86-year-old victim’s bank account in almost 275 transactions since December 2019.

Investigators subpoenaed bank records and found Quiles’ name or phone number on multiple withdrawals. The victim told deputies he provided Quiles with money for her education, vehicle and insurance, but never gave her permission to withdraw money behind his back.

Deputies say Quiles apologized and was remorseful for her actions.

Quiles faces a charge of exploitation of the elderly.
